What it is for, who it suits
In Madagascar, Kenya or Tanzania, the guesthouse net is sometimes missing, torn or impossible to hang for lack of a ceiling hook. A self-standing net depends on nothing: set it on the bed or mattress and sleep underneath.
This one springs open as it leaves its pouch, with no poles to assemble or cord to tension. Open, it forms a 200 × 72 × 70 cm tunnel, the size of a single mattress, with a fabric roof and fine mesh walls that let air through. It weighs 492 g and folds into a flat 33 × 33 cm disc in the supplied pouch. It also works for a shaded nap by a lake or on a terrace.
Limits: the supplier does not mention any insecticide treatment; it does not replace a treated net or the prevention measures your doctor recommends for risk areas. Folding it back into a disc takes some practice: try at home before you leave.
