What it is for, who it suits
At check-in. Flights to Okavango or Skeleton Coast camps often limit bags to about 20 kg in soft luggage, and coming home the suitcase is full of souvenirs. Finding out at the desk means paying the fee or unpacking on the terminal floor.
What it changes. Weigh each bag at the hotel the night before and spread the load calmly.
How it is made. Strain-gauge sensor, 10 g to 50 kg, large LCD, display hold, stainless steel housing and hook with a strong strap. 130 g.
Before you order. It runs on a battery (model not stated): carry a spare. Hold the bag still for an accurate reading.
Timing. 8 to 15 working days: order at least three weeks before the flight. 14-day returns.
Before you go
Buyers' questions
Which battery does it use?
The supplier does not state it. Check on arrival and carry a spare.
Is it accurate?
Enough to avoid a surprise at the desk; keep a kilo or two of margin.
