What it is for, who it suits
Night in the desert. NamibRand is one of the world's top-rated dark-sky reserves, and over Deadvlei or the Kalahari the Milky Way is visible to the naked eye. Handheld, a 15-second exposure is a blur: the most common disappointment back home.
What it changes. The camera stays still: sharp stars, low dawn light on the dunes, a self-timer group shot at camp.
